The College of Veterinary Science, Proddatur was started established in the year 2008 vide G.O.MS.No.247, Finance (SMPC) Dept, dated 20.08.2008 of Government of Andhra Pradesh. This College is a constituent College of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati offering by Five Years Degree course BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry) the Veterinary graduates serve the livestock in the field of animal husbandry and from 2016 year admitted batch onwards the duration of course is Five and half years.

Dr.Ganti.R.K.Sharma

Dr.Ganti.R.K.SHARMA, is presently working as Professor and University Head in the discipline of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education with 28 years of vast experience. Prof. Sharma completed B.V.Sc & A.H. from College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad during 1993 and M.V.Sc., from Extension Education Institute, Hyderabad during 1997 and Ph.D. from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar during 2004 and presently acting as Associate Dean, College of Veterinary science, Proddatur from 06.03.2026.
He is conferred with Adarsha Vidya Saraswathi Rashtriya Puraskar Award for the 2023 and Rythunestham Award for the year 2019 and State Best Teacher Award for the year 2017 and Distinguished faculty award for the year 2016 as well as University Meritorious Teacher Award for the year 2012.

Students have excelled in inter collegiate sports games and cultural meet in mono action, one act play, skit and group dance and bagged over all championship in cultural and literary activities.
Student got Gold medal in shuttle badminton champion at national level.
Students participated in NSS Youth camp at Rajamahendravaram and bagged award in essay writing competition.
