The Department was started in the year 1956 under leadership of Dr. A. Ganti Sastry and it had Pathology and Parasitology sections. During the year 1973 Parasitology section was separated from Pathology department. M.V.Sc., programme was started in 1967-68 and so far 77 candidates obtained their degree. Ph.D. programme was started in 1976-77 and so far 16 candidates obtained their Doctorates.
