Dr.S.Gangu Naidu

Dr S. Gangu Naidu assumed charge as Principal (FAC), A.H. Polytechnic Vennelavalasa on 14-06-2023. He did his B.V.Sc. & AH (1995-2000) from College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati; M.V.Sc. In Veterinary Biochemistry (2000-2002) from College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad; Ph.D (2016-2019) from ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana. He worked as Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in the Animal Husbandry Department for 10 years (2003-2013) and joined as Assistant Professor at NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram (2013-2016) and went for higher studies. After completion of the Ph.D programme posted him at College of Veterinary Science, Garividi. He served as the Head of the department Veterinary Biochemistry for one year and Instrumental in uplifting the department as founder Head and also established two departments i.e., Livestock Farm Complex and Livestock Production Management as per VCI norms at College of Veterinary Science, Garividi. At the newly established colleges his contributions are incomparable; he takes charge as First Warden, as First Officer In-charge for Placement Cell, as First Officer In-charge for Security, as First Officer In-charge Laison of the campus at C.V.Sc, Garividi. He was author for Laboratory manuals and guided 2 M.V.Sc. students and as member of Advisory Committee. He has published eight research articles with good impact factor and farmer oriented popular articles in national and international journals.

Outreach and Services

Health camps are conducted at the surrounding villages of the college which is helpful for both livestock farmers and the students. Students are made to give seminars by the course teachers and are evaluated for assignments regularly. The above activity encourages students to better understand their topic and also to develop their communication skills to interact with farmers at field level. Students are well equipped with all the technical aspects which includes seasonal deworming and vaccination programmes organized by AH Department for important livestock diseases like FMD, Blue tongue disease, HS, ET etc. During these camps the students also involve in extension activities such as explaining the farmers regarding good animal husbandry practices like prevention of mastitis, deworming schedule, poultry farming, rabbit farming, pig farming, balanced ration formulation, concept of one health etc. Weekly NSS program is conducted which involves the students’ participation in maintaining a clean campus. A mandatory Special NSS program is conducted for every batch for one week prior to their internship programme. During their internship the students receive hands on clinical training at Veterinary dispensaries, Veterinary polyclinics, livestock research stations, disease diagnostic labs and Research stations. In addition students are trained for extracurricular activities including sports and games like cricket, volleyball in the college ground for maintaining physical fitness. Besides special NSS camps like Swatch Bharath Campaign 2.0, World Environment Day, Yoga Day, Meri Maatti Mera Desh campaign and National Sports day were effectively organized at A.H. Polytechnic, Vennelavalasa with the aim of creating awareness among the young citizens towards the social service and their responsibility towards the environment and society. Cultural activities like Fresher’s day for 2023 Batch students was also organized and made a successful event.
