The department started functioning from the year 2001 initially to offer UG courses and was subsequently upgraded to offer M.V.Sc., and Ph.D. programmes from the years 2008-09 and 2013-14, respectively.
    
    
        Department has acquired the infrastructure and expertise to carry out research in pharmacokinetics, in-vitro pharmacodynamic studies, acute and chronic toxicity & safety evaluation studies in laboratory animals (small and large animals), phytopharmacology and environmental pollutants & drug residues analysis in various edible animal products.
    
    Activities in the department:
    
        - Offers courses for B.V.Sc. &A.H., M.V.Sc., and Ph.D. students.
 
        - Guides the students for their Master’s and Doctoral thesis research.
 
        - Executes research projects.
 
        - Extends expert advice on veterinary toxicities.
 
        - Supports extra-curricular and administrative activities of the college and University.
