Prof. (Dr.) G. Gangaraju is a distinguished academician and administrator with
a postgraduate degree in Dairy Production from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural
University (APAU) and Ph.D. in Livestock Production Management (LPM) from
Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU), Tirupati. With an illustrious
career spanning over 27 years in ANGRAU and SVVU, he has served in several pivotal
roles including Scientist/ARO, Vice Principal (AHP), Senior Scientist & Head,
Associate Professor, Principal Scientist & Head, Professor & Head (LPM), University
Head (LPM), Registrar (FAC), and SC & ST Cell Convenor, SVVU, Tirupati. Throughout
his career, he has been actively engaged in academics, research, extension, and
administration. He served as Principal Investigator of the ICAR-NWPSI project on
Nellore sheep and as Farm Manager at LRS, Garividi; LES, Rajendranagar; and the Dairy
Demonstration Unit, CVSc, Tirupati. His contributions significantly advanced the
development and conservation of Nellore, Deccani, and Vizianagaram sheep breeds,
Jersey × Sahiwal crossbred dairy cattle, and the Punganur cattle breed. In the
academic domain, Prof. Gangaraju has guided seven M.V.Sc. scholars as Chairman/Major
Advisor and served on the advisory committees of two Ph.D. scholars and thirty M.V.Sc.
scholars in Livestock Production Management and allied disciplines. As a committed
extension professional, he has conducted and contributed to numerous farmers’ training
programmes on dairy cattle, sheep, goat, and pig production and management. He has
also been associated with the farmer awareness camps of “Progeny Testing Programme”
(2016–2025) of the Animal Husbandry Department. Before joining university service,
he served for four years as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon at V.D. Tarigonda, Chittoor District.
