VICE - CHANCELLOR

Dr.  V. Prabhakar  Rao,  M.V.Sc., Ph.D

         Dr. V. Prabhakar Rao, has taken over as the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati on 27-10-2010.   Dr. Rao completed B.V.Sc & AH in 1^st class from College of  Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad in the year 1965  and  M.V.Sc in 1^st class at IVRI, Izzatnagar, U.P. in 1968 with specialization in Animal Genetics and Breeding.  He joined as Assistant Professor in APAU in the year 1969   and completed his Doctorate Studies as in-service candidate at NDRI, Karnal.

       He has more than 32 years of experience in teaching, research, extension and administration by serving ANGRAU (formerly APAU) in different capacities such as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Registrar.  He has guided 8 M.V.Sc & 2 PhD students as Chairman of Advisory Committee and has published more than 60 research papers in peer reviewed national and international journals.  He is a member of many professional bodies and has acted as an expert on selection committees and also as a referee for many journals.  He has rich administrative experience as he worked as Registrar, ANGRAU, Hyderabad for over five years.  His unbiased, positive and transparent administration as Registrar, ANGRAU is widely acclaimed by staff, students and workers of the University.

       In recognition of his distinguished service to the profession he was honoured with  the Meritorious Teacher Award by ANGRAU in the year 1988 and Best Teacher award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1995.
